The Former Bishop’s Palace, Salisbury Cathedral School
Winterbourne Opera's twelfth production moves to the Close in Salisbury and the gracious Georgian room in the former Bishop's Palace. Audiences are welcome to picnic in the beautiful lake-side grounds with the Cathedral as backdrop.
The Marriage of Figaro, with its colourful mix of frivolity, passion, romance and farce, continues to be a favourite with a wide following, not least because of Mozart's glorious music including the well-known and beautiful aria 'Porgi amor'.
Our soloists and musicians are all talented young professionals starting out on their opera careers, and we are pleased to welcome back Vanessa Bowers in the role of Susanna, and Jessica Broad as The Countess. They will be supported by Winterbourne's own chorus and a sparkling piano duet.
Ben Occhipinti returns after his recent directing triumphs at Petersham Opera, Richmond, and at Salisbury Playhouse, to join David Davies (musical director). We are thrilled to welcome Tom Paris as designer fresh from the award-winning West-end production of 'Matilda' and we look forward to an exciting new interpretation of this well-loved opera.
